redesign.life and TechPortal join forces for GreenKarting schools program
The redesign.life Foundation and TechPortal are joining forces to put the GreenKarting schools program on the map in a better and broader way. So that redesign.mobility and the impact program can introduce many more secondary school students to technology and sustainable mobility in a fun and innovative way. Foundation Founder Peter-Paul Laumans: "A great win-win for both parties! As an education specialist, TechPortal knows better than anyone how to do this in a way that appeals to the target group. We add our strong network, in-depth expertise, and effective communication power. Together we enthuse the new generation for a job in technology."
For the energy transition to succeed, more technical professionals are needed. It is necessary to change the generally conventional perception and image in the technical field. This is why the GreenKarting schools program has been set up. Within the schools program, secondary school students and their parents are introduced to technology in a broad, challenging and fun way. Together, the students build an electric kart that they actually drive during the driving days at unique locations and real circuits. This involves much more than just technical work; there is also plenty of attention to programming, communication, and design.
The role of TechPortal
Techportal unlocks information about educational programs with a context-rich learning environment and lets young people have fun with science and technology. Through challenges, workshops, and information markets, they encourage collaborations between schools and companies. By joining forces, TechPortal will use its expertise to further develop and implement the educational program.
Erik de Mink, regional coordinator Techportal.nl: "Over the past 15 years we have successfully developed context-rich educational programs for primary, secondary and vocational education. We are proud that the redesign.life Foundation has decided to support and help further develop our GreenKarting program. Together with the Consortium for Vocational Education and the redesign.life Foundation, we are ensuring that a larger number of students are introduced to technology, the challenges of energy transition and sustainable mobility. This is essential to contribute to solving the shortage of technicians in the labor market."
Making technology education more attractive
"With the schools program, we make the sometimes still abstract themes tangible for students and parents and convey to them in a fun and inspiring way the urgency to do things differently as a society. Together with TechPortal and Consortium Vocational Education, we ensure that young people become enthusiastic about a job in engineering and stimulate and develop their technical skills. Together, we provide the next generation with the tools and knowledge they need to make a positive change and shape the world of tomorrow," said Peter-Paul Laumans.
