Ready, set, go: first programme of the redesign.life Foundation launched in the Brainport region
EV Soapbox Schools Challenge
Starting sign for race to technical professionals
In November, top executives of the Dutch Education Foundation handed out the first EV Soapbox frame to “Sterk Techniek Onderwijs Regio Helmond de Peel”, during a visit to the Brainport region. This Soapbox frame is the official starting sign of the curriculum "EV Soapbox Schools Challenge" of the redesign.life Foundation in which, among others, the Hub van Doorne from Deurne, the Varendonck from Asten and the Vakcollege in Helmond participate.
Curriculum: redesign.life - EV Soapbox Schools Challenge
The redesign.life - EV Soapbox Schools Challenge teaching programme will start in 2023. It aims to get students excited about technology, sustainability and developing new mobility solutions. Within the curriculum, secondary school students will learn to build electrically powered soapboxes and then race them against each other. In addition, guest speakers from the electric racing world will give guest lectures at the participating schools and business visits will take place. During the business visits, students can then take a look behind the scenes at leading technology companies. Finally, the curriculum, put together by the Consortium for Vocational Education, the ERA Cup and More2Win, also includes a broad parent-education programme.
Peter Paul Laumans, chairman redesign.life Foundation: "The redesign.life Foundation was created to make a social impact from a broad coalition of companies, governments and institutions. Mobility, working and living will look different in the future. We need to anticipate that now. The EV Soapbox Challenge is a great example of this.”
Naud Becker, program lead redesign.life Foundation: “By having guest speakers share their experience, they inspire students to choose a technical study. Moreover, by racing themselves, students experience in a fun way how amazing electric mobility can be. At the same time, by actively involving companies in the curriculum through the working visits, we also encourage cooperation between education and business locally."
“Are you ready to make impact?”
